PAINTING VIDEO DESCRIPTION – Need a Halloween painting idea? Let me be your acrylic art instructor as I take you through easy step-by-step instructions of this fun beginner level Halloween art video as you learn how to paint a scarecrow giving a full-moon with his pumpkin butt. According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, a scarecrow is defined as “a device posted on cultivated ground to deter birds or other animals from eating or otherwise disturbing seeds, shoots, and fruit; its name derives from its use against the crow.” Well, sometimes scarecrows don’t do their job. I recently learned that Scarecrows will not deter crows or any other birds for very long if they remain stationary, that is why it's recommended by top experts, such as Martha Stuart and Better Homes and Gardens, that gardeners and farmers do one of two things; either move the scarecrow around every couple of days to confuse the birds and give the appearance of movement, or, alternatively, use a motion activated scarecrow. The former is very daunting and time consuming and has to be done frequently, and the latter can be really cool because there are so many motion activated deterrents, such as, water sprays, loud noises, and quick animatronic movements. But while reading up on hay-stuffed bird boogie men, I thought of a third possible deterrent. In my opinion there is nothing scarier than the shock of unexpectedly seeing a person's naked butt. I understand that voluntarily seeing a bare bum can be beneficial under certain circumstances, however, when one’s eyes are suddenly confronted by an exposed dark and mysterious crack and pale hindquarters, it can be a little off-putting and frightening. Robust, round, hairy or sculpted, it doesn’t matter because not even the perfect derriere can prevent the most uninhibited person from blushing. That being said, I would think that a scarecrow baring their backside would be frightening enough to deter any bird from going anywhere near it, ever! In the spirit of the Halloween season, full-moons, birds and crows, and rearends everywhere, join me and paint with acrylics this funny whimsical image that is sure to be the talk of every Halloween costume party. The process for this beginner art lesson is so simple. First, you’ll learn how to paint a sky and cornstalk field landscape with bright autumn colors. Then, you’ll learn how to draw a scarecrow using an easy dot to dot method. After painting a base coat for the pants, shirt, hat and pumpkins, you’ll apply highlights and shadows giving it form and dimension like a 3-D photograph. Just have fun and paint a Halloween illustration to decorate your home with for the autumn season. Using only 3 brushes, and 8 colors, you’ll paint like a professional and create the best canvas painting in the world! Have a date night, paint party, paint and sip even, or virtual paint night.
