The 2025 Byron Wheelstand Competition was one of the most exciting events ever! If you are new to this event it is a once a year Wheelie Contest that is put on by Byron Dragway in Byron, Illinois always at the end of the racing season (1st weekend in October). To win this event you just have to have your car go the furthest down the drag strip on 2 wheels. There is two sessions and you get 2 tries at it in each session. The rules are pretty loose but your car has to not be a purpose build wheelie car and have the engine roughly in the stock location. This event is super exciting and one that I look forward to every year that it comes up. I've been going to it every year since 2012 and the actual event has been around since 1999. There is a $10,000 payout for the winner of the longest wheelie and they do have other payouts for Most Violent Wheelie, Most Photogenetic, and now after this year they are adding the Sportsmanship Award named after Chris Pearce who is the driver of the Chinto Pinto. He was the one that gave the Oldsmobile Cutlass the passenger side front tire to end up beating him and winning the event. Very cool of him to do that and he is all about giving the fans the best show possible. And by doing that he sure helped it out a lot to make it an exciting year and one that will never be forgotten!
