Hi, this is Scott with etrailer and today we're gonna be taking a look at our Draw-Tite Class 3 Trailer Hitch for our 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan. Volkswagen Tiguan is a really popular vehicle for families. A Class 3 receiver hitch like this Draw-Tite is gonna be a really good option for pulling a small trailer, bike racks, putting on your cargo basket on the back. You can load it down with all your extra accessories that you can't fit in the back. It's just really nice. It hides real nice under the Tiguan, it's got your safety chain loops here. You could use that style or could use the regular just drop in style of hook for your safety chains. It also has your 5/8 hitch pin opening here and that's gonna lock in your accessories. You can get the type that lock on either side that will make sure nobody can take off any of your accessories. It comes with a tab welded to it and attached. So if you want to get your wiring or anything hooked up, that is a really nice option to have on this style of hitch. This receiver does have the two inch opening, that's gonna be good for all your popular accessories that do have the two inch shank. It does have a downward capacity of 675 pounds. That's going to be any of your cargo carriers or your bike racks or anything. That's gonna be your weight to decide what you can have on that. It does have a pull capacity of 4,500 pounds, so that's gonna be your trailer, your small trailers, anything like that that you wanted to tow behind it. But you do want to check with your manufacturer's recommendations on what your tow capacities are for your vehicle. As far as your measurements go for this hitch, from the pin pole opening center to the edge of your bumper, you're looking at about three inches on that. And as far as top of the tube to the ground you're looking at right at about 16 inches on that one. That's gonna be your measurement to figure out what kind of rise or whatever you need for the shank on your bike racks or your cargo carrier or anything like that. If you do decide on this one, it is a really nice hitch. It's got a really nice powder coat finish on it. It's durable. It's got a higher capacity because it is a Class 3 hitch. I think it's a really good option for some people that maybe haul a little more on their hitch, like their bike racks or whatever. Like a family. You're gonna have a few more bikes on that bike rack, which is gonna add a little more weight and that does give you the capacity you need on this system. If it's something you don't want to tackle, you may wanna look into our dealer locator to have one installed for you. They're gonna have more specialized tools to deal with the issues that come up when you install this hitch. If this is something you want to go ahead and try and get done yourself at home, stick around and we'll show you how to get it done. To start our installation, we're gonna take our T20 bit and we're gonna go along and remove our fasteners here to remove our underbody panel. (drill grinding) With those removed, there's gonna be two plastic 10 millimeter nuts that are buried up in each one of these little locations up in here. We'll need to remove those. (drill grinding) Those plastic nuts probably will stay attached to your underbody panel so you don't have to worry about completely pulling them off or removing them. They may stay with the panel. (drill grinding) We're gonna have to trim out a little piece of our underbody fascia here and it's a little part just under your bumper, that's gonna give us clearance for the tube of our hitch to come through. The measurements they give you, it shows you find the center line. So we measured from this portion to this portion and then we've found the center line of that measurement. And then we went from three inches across and three inches across. They are telling us to come down right into this lip, but what we're gonna do is we're gonna cut just above that and see if that's gonna give us enough clearance. We're gonna use our power tool to start our cut and go up on both sides and we will go from there. (saw grinding) Now that we got it all trimmed out there, all we're gonna do is just come through and clean it up, maybe trim up some of the rough edges and stuff that we got from our power tool and that'll make it look a lot better. Now
