Freezekiel is on a continent far to the north. From Alvanista, go north to reach the town. In the item shop, talk to the chef on the second floor to learn a recipe. In the equipment shop, talk to the collector to buy the Blue Card for 50,000 Gald. Then head north to Fenrir Cathedral. Examine the door to unlock it and go inside. Talk to the apparition sitting on a pew. He sells Fire Charms for 100,000 Gald each. These charms protect the party from extreme cold in the next dungeon, and you need six to protect everyone. He only sells one if you do not already have it. Check the altar for a short scene, after a scene the entrance to the Cavern of Ice will open. Inside, go down the stairs and open a chest to get the Duel Helm. Melt the frozen wall switch with the Sorcerer’s Ring and press it. From here on, characters without a Fire Charm will take cold damage, which can be deadly, so heal often. As you go deeper, light all the candlesticks with the Sorcerer’s Ring to open the way. Get the Star Cloak from a chest and go down the stairs. In the next cold area, thaw the statue with the Sorcerer’s Ring and move it in front of the hole in the wall to stop the wind. Light the candles and continue down. The next room is empty, so go left. You will reach a grid area where you can collect several items, including Stun Charm, Charm Bottle, Tidal Wave spellbook, Black Onyx, Silver Shawl, Aqua Mantle, Ring Shield, Silver Plate, and the Messa di Requiem book. After collecting them, go down the stairs. Open the blue chest for the Star Beret and the red chest for the Ankh Shield. Take the third door from the left and follow the path. Push the switch to drain the water, then go down the stairs. Take the upper-right path to get the Gale Spreader bow and Pretty Mittens. Press the wall switch, go through the locked door area, and step on the floor switch to freeze the water so you can cross it. You will return to a previous room. Use the switch again to refill and freeze the water, then move forward to find a save point. The side paths are empty, and the path ahead leads to the boss. You can remove Fire Charms to equip better accessories before the fight. The boss is Fenrir Beast. His attacks are fast and hit the whole party, but his HP is low. After the battle, Cless receives the Vorpal Sword, a strong water-element weapon, and the Dimensional Divide skill, a powerful ability with wide range but high TP cost. The character designs by Kōsuke Fujishima gave it a distinct anime look, and it introduced the Linear Motion Battle System used throughout the series. The PlayStation version (1998) improves the game with better graphics, smoother gameplay, redrawn characters and backgrounds, and a 3D world map.
