Are you curious as to the types of blacksmith hammers and uses? In this video, I discuss the types of of forging hammers you'll find in a blacksmith shop. Blacksmith hammer making is quite enjoyable. I've forged several wrought iron hammers in a variety of styles before. You can make your own wrought iron hammer and add high carbon (1045) faces. I like long hammer handles (16") with small weighted hammers. My favorite first blacksmithing hammer was a 3 lb harbor freight cross pein hammer, which you can also get at amazon if you can't get one locally: http://amzn.to/2rSBaaW (amazon affiliate link). There is no one "right" hammer to use. Make sure you pick the right hammer for the job. I've done a video on blacksmith hammer technique not to far before this video came out.
