Wet Plate Collodion Ritual

My father passed away exactly two years ago. This photograph was created in his memory and as a tribute to all my ancestors. The bread, baked in my father’s podpeka (also known as sač or Dutch Oven), is a gift for the descendants of my father. Here and now, I stand, with my camera as a tool to honour the past, and fire as the force that forges the future. The bread’s form mirrors the shape of stones; yet one sustains life, while the other does not. At least, not yet. Also these stones will become sand, then soil, then wheat and from the wheat someone will bake a bread and eat it. Consciousness the spark that jumps from one form into another. This bread will feed my father's descendants and it is honouring memories of him and my ancestors. In my follow up vlog I will make a carbon transfer print from this collodion negative and I will talk about the aesthetic of the image, symbolism of bread and the new project that I will start working on.
