I was speaking with a client about helping them feel grateful for their body. It dawned on me that many people make the practice of gratitude harder than it needs to be. You don't need to search far and wide to find things to feel grateful for. In fact, the easiest way is to stop searching period, and instead just stop and be present in the moment you're in now. Forget anything else, simply be present. Now, in this moment, ask yourself what is going right? What is working? What is good about this moment? You don't need to find something enormous to feel grateful for, just find anything that's going right. Could it be that your eyes are allowing you to see this? That your brain is functioning so we'll that you can read this? That you can hear the words I speak? How about the fact that you can breathe in the sweet air that's around you? Remember, the practice of gratitude is simply to become more grateful and train yourself to look for what's right in this moment instead of what's wrong ;) There is almost always more going right in life - and with your body - than what's going wrong. It just takes a little focus and commitment to seeing the good. Hopefully this helps if you've been having trouble feel good about your body. Remember, just finding anything to feel good about gets the momentum going! And then you just need to run with it!
