We’re effectively getting in on the act with this hotted-up version of the Q2 compact SUV at its mid-life update. So to backtrack a little, the Audi Q2 has been on sale in Australia since 2017, while the SQ2 was launched in Europe in 2018 but never made it here. Refreshes for both Q2 and SQ2 were revealed late last year globally and now launch in Australia together. Confused? Don’t be, the SQ2 adopts the classic Audi S formula of a decent performance lift without going RS-crazy and jamming a V8 or something outrageous under the bonnet. Instead, the all-wheel drive hatch gets the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine we’ve seen in other Audis and related Volkswagen models, sports suspension and a $60K price tag.
