Back in Canberra for another Murray cod mission. Fished three sessions over the first two days and only managed a single boof with no hook-up. Up again at 3:30 the third day for another crack—two more boofs, still no connection. It felt like the fish were just blowing the lure away rather than committing to it. Switched to a swimbait and on the third cast—BANG—solid hook-up. First fish went 57 cm. On the walk back, I revisited the exact spot where I’d had the first boof earlier that morning. Same position, same story—this time it stuck. A 55 cm fish, which I’m convinced was the same one from earlier. Both fish were released to fight another day and pass on that excitement to the next angler.
