On these dates, mystical men, dressed up in Ugly, Beautifully Ugly and Beautifull costumes roam around the Villages of Urnasch, Waldstatt and Schwellbrunn to go and bless every house with Yodel Chants and chase away the winter Spirits by ringing the bells. This amazing swiss tradition can only be seen when travelling to Appenzell Ausserrhoden and roots very deeply in the culture of the locals. Some say that people live for this tradition. Experience Silvesterchlausen is one of Switzerland most fascinating traditions.
