The UNSELFY Project is a series of videos, photographs, sculpture and installation in which the artist faces away from the camera. An exploration and an attempt to highlight a long-term homo-aesthetic genealogy; the refusal. The refusal that comes hand-in-hand with the queer condition. Will we ever belong? No? Should we ever come out? Are we indeed - always - coming out? Stiofan O’Ceallaigh is a multi-media artist born in Ireland, currently working between the USA and Europe, O’Ceallaigh is both an artist and curator, also founder of queer art project and collective Balaclava.Q. Working internationally exhibiting mainly across Europe and N/S. America O’Ceallaigh’s focus is an exploration of the understanding of a queer aesthetic, if indeed, there is one.
