APPLE Core - Preventing Childhood Obesity

On Sept. 10, 2011 Bastyr University and Premera Blue Cross teamed up to host APPLE Core, a childhood obesity prevention program. More than a dozen local kids and their parents participated in simple, practical and even fun lifestyle-adjustment exercises to learn more about the keys to preventing the rising rate of childhood obesity and its associated health problems. The free day on the campus of Bastyr University was filled with activities designed to focus on positive lifestyle changes. APPLE Core's first year was a success, and organizers hope it can become an annual camp for children and their guardians.
