Update: Now this train runs as single service 16721/22 Coimbatore Madurai Coimbatore Intercity Express Presenting another ALCo treat to viewers, in the form of the now becoming rare Erode DLS WDM3D. This train operates as two parts, 1) from CBE to Palani as train no. 06463 and 2) from Palani to MDU as train no. 06479. As the route is not electrified from Pollachi to Dindigul, end to end diesel locomotive pulls the train. This route is the shortest to Madurai from Coimbatore and is highly under utilised. The train has a fully unreserved composition and runs daily with the fare from CBE to MDU being Rs. 90. Glimpses of the Western ghats can be seen enroute. Enjoy the ride!
