The last and final railtour of 2014 for the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland, and what a better way to end the 50th anniversary than a sighting of 85 Merlin making a trip to Dublin. To start the video off we go to Portmarnock Station in County Dublin where we see RPSI's No. 85 'Merlin' passing through with the trip to Connolly Station. After jumping on a Dart train we get off in Connolly where we see IE class 201 number 231 taking the RPSI Mk2 coaches up to the wash road, 85 soon follows directly behind her train, 85 then shunts around a bit in order to access the turntable where she is turned around, once that was done she went into Connolly sidings to take on water. We then go around to the sidings where we see RPSI No. 85 'Merlin' and RPSI No. 461 standing side by side, this was quite a sight for me as I have never seen two steam locomotives beside each other. 85 stayed beside her sister loco 461 for around an hour and a half taking on water. While 85 was in Connolly sitting beside 461, I jumped on a Dart to Malahide with YouTube user's Nirtrainman and Joseph Newsome to get ourselves in position for 85s return trip to Belfast. After standing around in the cold for 45 minutes RPSI's No. 85 'Merlin' thunders past Malahide with the last and final steam railtour for 2014, what a great way to end the year! The train consisted of RPSI's 'S' class loco number 85 'Merlin' & the RPSI's Mk2 coaches. Footage was taken on Sunday the 28th of December 2014. Please Comment Like & Subscribe.
