One in four kids suffer abuse/trauma but no one talks about it. Our country spends over $124 Billion dollars/year to try to repair the damage. The ACE Study proves childhood abuse/trauma leads to lifelong disease that can steal 20 years from survivors. We must name the the Elephant In the Room, remove the shame and create Trauma Informed Communities. We can Stop the Cycle Together! As a survivor, Jane wrote her memoir Thank God I Died to bring awareness to the fact that child abuse/trauma occurs in every neighborhood and in every city. She invites us all to work TOGETHER by asking a simple question differently. Instead of asking “What’s wrong with that kid?” we can now ask “What happened to that child?” That paradigm shift is amazingly powerful. We can respond as partners to increase awareness by providing education, resiliency training and support to kids and families. The TOGETHER Movement invites entire communities to respond to childhood abuse/trauma with a new energy of hope. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
