Last year CarAdvice held its first ever Australia Day challenge. We pitted a Holden Ute against a Holden wagon and James won. This year Dave reckons his learned his lesson and for 2016, he’s opted for the latest version of last year’s winner, the VF Series II Holden Commodore Sportwagon SS V Redline. Mixing things up a little, James has decided to go with the new Ford Everest. And while last year was all about the classic Australia Day BBQ, this year it’s all about a classic Australian: The good old Aussie meat pie. So tacking the challenge to Victoria’s beautiful Great Ocean Road, this year’s challenge is to be the first person to order a pie from a pie shop - Kenty’s Bakery - a few kilometres away. Dave takes into battle a 304kW 6.2-litre LS3 V8-powered rear-wheel-drive wagon, while James’ choice throws a torquey turbo-diesel engine, four-wheel drive and 225mm of ground clearance into the mix.
