Along the Lekki–Epe Expressway, operators of mini buses, popularly known as Korope, staged a protest against new restrictions imposed by the Lagos State Government. The demonstration at the Ajah Roundabout has caused significant traffic congestion, leaving commuters stranded and disrupting movement along one of Lagos’ busiest corridors. The protest follows the state’s decision to formally designate the Lekki–Epe axis as a Mass Transit and Regulated Transport Corridor under its Bus Reform Initiative. According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, the policy is intended to improve traffic management, commuter safety, and streamline public transport operations. However, Korope operators argue that the restrictions threaten their livelihoods and have called for a review of the directive. With growing concerns over mobility, enforcement, and economic impact, questions remain about whether dialogue will follow enforcement. News Central’s Israel Eferobor reports live from the scene.
