This breakthrough from 10x Genomics lets you analyze RNA and protein on the same slide — making it possible to identify cell behaviors not identifiable with RNA alone. ---- VIDEO TRANSCRIPT ---- Welcome to Psomagen, where we have a Spatial Biology and Single-Cell Center of Excellence. Why would anyone want to add protein to a spatial transcriptomics experiment? Well, RNA transcript levels don't always match the protein levels in the cell, and protein is the thing that does the actual work. So, it's important to verify with that. In addition, we'll see in just a second that sometimes you can't identify a cell type with transcript alone. In this example of CD45 raw and CD45RO, at the transcript level, it's not possible to identify either the naive RA positive or the activated RO positive T- cells. In this bottom right corner, here's an example of the transcript data. And you can see there's very little fluorescence there. However, in the upper right corner, if you use protein, you can easily identify the naive T-cells in red versus the activated ones in green. The new protein panels that are being launched by 10x Genomics are great pairing with their human IO or multi-tissue and pain cancer panels. 10x Genomics has launched these six protein sub-panels.
