Boylston, MA. The Hillside Restoration Project partnered with Tahanto’s AP World History class for their capstone project. A capstone project is a multifaceted body of work that serves as a culminating academic and intellectual experience for students. The class decided to make a walking tour of Hillside with reenactments throughout. Their intention was to spread awareness about the John B. Gough house and the temperance movement with small tidbits about the community activities offered. After digging through articles, and town meeting notes, and with the help of Nel Lazour, the class was able to combine the information they learned into a “docudrama,” which included both the historical and current activities Hillside has. The class visited Hillside on Sunday to film interviews with some local residents and capture the history of the John B. Gough house. Nowadays, it is uncommon for a town to have something like Hillside. The students recognized this and wanted to highlight its importance. Attached is the video the Tahanto students created to spread awareness.
