It's Dustin here back with another PPG video. This time we are going to be building a bad ass PPG Helmet from scratch. Sounds difficult but trust me, it's not. Lets start with where you can find the the parts for this build. I picked everything up from Amazon, PPGSmoke.com. and a local Acklands Grainger. The Peltor mounts were double the price on Amazon so I grabbed them locally for 30 bucks. Safety - Made for airsoft not aviation. This helmet has not been tested for aviation use. This is my own personal choice to use it I am not recommending this as a safe option for personal protection equipment when you are flying. ASSEMBLING Easy, quick and fun. You don't need very many tools just a drill, drill bits, screw driver and a knife. Out with the spaghetti helmet and in with the new advanced premium helmet. You can use the electronic headset or just a regular Peltor set up. PROS: Extremely simple to build, gives you every feature that a PPG pilot needs when flying, room for more accessories on the rails and/or Velcro like a low profile mounted Gopro, a flashlight, a visor, branded Velcro patches, a strobe light, a Gopro audio adapter and you can adjust your earmuffs front to back. It feels very comfortable and the internal suspension is adjustable for the perfect fit. It really does Look cool and it feels great on your head. CONS: It's not a certified aviation helmet, it's on the heavier side at 3.5lbs all-up weight, a lot of snag hazards when you mount stuff to your helmet. It looks like your trying to be in the military butt really your just a butt fan guy... More testing is coming soon. Connecting Gopro, aviation radio, music apps, and eventually when it warms up a bit some live Gopro vlogging and testing. ================================================================== PARTS FOR THE BUILD: Tactical Helmet 4.4 of 5 star - https://amzn.to/3qIZaLN Surprisingly heavy duty and very good quality. Seems tougher than my old PPG helmet made from a BMX helmet. This helmet works well because it already has the large openings on the sides and you don't need to do any major cutting. $89.99 CAD Size L-XL Colour Black Recommended uses for product Airsoft Brand ATAIRSOFT Outer material Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene Weight: 770g/1.7lbs or 3.5lbs total weight with headset and gopro Size adjustable (57-61 cm) ------------------------------------- Earmuff Rail Mount - https://amzn.to/3rBdB3A $29.07 CAD Brand VICASKY Item Weight 130 g / 0.3 lbs ------------------------------------- Peltor Earmuff Mounts - https://amzn.to/3qERF8t $47.39 CAD 105 DB protection --------------------------------------- Gopro Mount - https://amzn.to/3FKO1yn $15.99 -------------------------------------- Electronic Headset PPG Smoke Headset - https://ppgsmoke.com/ $662 Replaces a $400 Sena and is supposed to give it a run for its money, but we will see about that once we start testing.
