The new church of Trasquera (Verbania) was built in the 16th century on the border between Italy and Switzerland, built in a strategic position on the imposing rock ridge dominating the entire valley. The only part that remained of the old medieval building was the bell tower, built in the traditional Romanesque style in the 12th century and raised in 1900 when new bells were added. The tower has five bells that can be completely rung by hand by bellringers, cast in 1927. The church is named after two military saints, in memory of the distant past when the entire territory was subject to frequent invasions by enemies.
