(13 Jun 1995) English/Nat Hundreds of people gathered in Los Angeles Monday for a candlelight vigil held by the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman to mark the first anniversary of their deaths. The pair were killed outside Nicole's apartment - allegedly by her estranged husband and football legend O-J Simpson. At a service for Nicole Brown Simpson, hundreds gathered on a Los Angeles beach under a full moon, as family members laid flowers in remembrance of her death one year ago (Monday). Family members led the vigil by laying flowers as melancholic sounds filled the air. Some were there to remember their friendship with Nicole and her friend Ronald Goldman while others simply turned out in a show of support for the family. A foundation formed in her memory sold white buttons reading "Remember Nicole 1959-1994." Candles and angel pins were also distributed. SOUNDBITE: "I may sit here and cry and the reason why I do cry is because Nicole is not here with me physically but I know she is more alive now than she has ever been."
