Lock on store's shutters STORYLINE Security was tight in the Pakistani city of Quetta on Saturday, a day after suicide bombers attacked a Shiite Muslim mosque packed with worshippers, killing as many as 47 people and sending enraged Shiites on a rampage. The government called in the army to patrol the streets of the city of one point two (M) million after a mob started setting fires and attacking buses and cars. Police imposed a curfew to try to quell the violence and there is no indication when the curfew would be lifted. Police also set up extra protection for Sunni mosques and religious schools to prevent any retaliatory attacks. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the mosque attack - the latest in a long series of assaults on Pakistan's Shiite Muslim minority. Most attacks have been blamed on radical groups from the country's Sunni Muslim majority. Musharraf has banned several militant Muslim groups in Pakistan, including extremist Sunni organisations that have been blamed for earlier attacks on Shiites. Despite the ban, many of the groups' leaders still operate freely. The Shiite-Sunni split in Islam dates back to a 7th century dispute over the succession of authority after the death of the Prophet Mohammed.
