Gas masks and respirators can have a lot of different certifications, tests, and ratings. One of the more common ones, CBRN, has a lot of factors that go into it and depending on the regulating body, you need to consider different components when looking to purchase a CBRN gas mask. For example, in the US under NIOSH regulations, a CBRN gas mask can only be tested bundled with an NBC canister. Under EU standards, EN CE, a gas mask can be tested separately from the filter canister. Below are some common factors to look at when determining what CBRN gas mask is right for you: Who is the regulating body the gas mask is tested fpr? What material are the seals made out of?
