PIC18F seriers Microcontroller. Programmed Using Microcode Studio with PBP 3.x. (PicBasic Pro 3) Record voice on to PC then convert audio so it plays from internal program flash memory. (audio resides with running program. so sample space is limited to availed Internal Flash memory size. 18f2550 = 32k total. im getting about 7 seconds with 32000hz, ALG_1.5, Fineness btc64). The Lowest Sample For speech would be 22050hz most likely. experimenting with lower values makes speech unrecognizable. it will be fine for sound effects (SFX). and it is ok to mix diffrent sample rate audio. so ok to do 16000hz SFX and 32000hz Speech within the same running program. this would be done to save flash space. The only program you will need to get is EMeditor. is is amazing. $150 amazing. it has vertical selection and macros. the hardest part in this process is the painstaking task of converting each .asm file generated by BTC3. The include file for PBP requires a specific format and header. the header contains info about the data below. you must set the header values in according to how you exported the.asm from BTC3. I might write a VB program to convert the asm files properly. you should be able to under stand the format change. see the zip file for a sample of the header on one of the few asm files. you will see how BTC3 exports the data. and how it is wrong and how the header needs to be. if someone wites and app to automate the asm conversion post it. the hardware is simple too. It uses TWO DIGITAL I/O ports on the PIC. each with a resistor., one speaker, one cap. ***I make a few errors in the video. nothing that affects the final result but might be clicking way more than needed. ***when im recording the wave file in audacity, it accidentally press ctrl-a and select everything. so when i past it i have to keep deleting stuff. oops. Also, i should have converted from stereo to mono after i did the pitch change. THEN export it as Raw, MONO, 8BIT. all you do in audacity is record a voice at 32000hz and put some effects on in, then export as raw. i made it look harder than it is. on the PBP side of things, there is PBP file in the zip called SOUNDtest.PBP or something. use that to figure out how to implement the include file into you project. at the end you hear the results. A voice saying Program Complete in the background. Playing off and Pic18f2550 connected to and old phone speaker. See results here: • Speech Results on 18f
