#StopAsianHate We don’t need your shock. We need your support. We need your solidarity. We need you to stand with us. We need to know what you’re doing to help protect us as well. We need to stop Asian hate. Whether publicly or privately, talk about these issues with your circles. Call these behaviours out. I’m sick and tired of people picking and choosing who to support and what their anti-racism should include. I’m sick and tired of having to continuously unpack trauma and so people will recognise that we’re human beings too because, no, I don’t want to have to keep talking about this. I don’t want my trauma to be displayed so publicly to be taken more seriously. I’m sick and tired of people telling us it’s a compliment to be fetishised. I’m sick and tired of people telling me how much they love Asian food/culture/music/films/TV shows but refuse to even check in on a personal level or acknowledge what’s been going on. I’m sick and tired of people denying us of our existence and our experiences. I’m sick and tired of Asian hate crimes happening and waking up everyday being scared of seeing another report. I’m sick and tired of us being treated as disposable. Stop attacking us. Stop killing us. We’re human beings too. We deserve respect too. Please check in on your Asian friends. Chances are, they’ve seen what’s been happening. Worse, they or their loved ones have experienced this. Experiencing this. Make sure they’re okay. If you don’t know what to say, tell them you’re reading up on what’s been happening. Tell them you’re committed to calling this out. Tell them you’re there for them in solidarity and support. Show them that you care beyond sending them pictures of your food. Or asking them advice of where to go for dim sum.Don’t click through every single one of my stories about Anti-Asian hate crime over the past few years, past year, past few months, past 24 hours and still be silent. Don’t only be interested in our friendship when you’re there to profit off my race/culture/the trauma/promote your latest project about diversity. It’s obvious. Your silence is heartbreaking.
