A new controversy erupted in Karnataka over the Waqf issue as the ruling Congress accused BJP State President B.Y Vijayendra of of attempting to bribe a former Minority Commission Chairperson, Anwar Manippady, to suppress the investigations into Waqf property encroachments. Manippady meanwhile has denied being approached by Vijayendra, and said that instead it was leaders from the Congress who tried to lure him. The BJP has dismissed the allegations as baseless and accused the Congress of politicising the issue. ..............................................................................................
