Carpenters - The End of the World

The original recording of "The End of the World" is on the Carpenters' fifth studio album, "Now & Then," (1973). The album was recorded in late 1972 and early 1973. Karen would have been about 22 years old, depending on what month the song was recorded. (Her birthday is March 2.) It was part of the "Then" side (Side B of the vinyl album) where they play homage to favorite songs from the Sixties. There is a disc jockey who talks over the beginning and end of the song. Reader's Digest released a 3-CD set in 1997 which included the entire "B" side of the "Now & Then" album, without the disc jockey's voice. There was no musical introduction to the song, so I added the introduction from Skeeter Davis's recording of the song.
