After a quick sail of almost 600 nautical miles from Nuku Hiva to the island of Rangiroa in the Tuamotos, I anchored in a lovely clear lagoon. The Tuamotos are a chain of almost 80 islands dead center in the Pacific. They are virtually at sea level and hence navigation is by sight(posting a lookout on the bow). As I was alone, this limited my exploration of this spectacular group of small islands. There are about 16000 inhabitants. This video was produced during a 3 year solo circumnavigation June 2009 to May 2012. I was sailing SHEARWATER a 47 ft catamaran built by John Conser. Fast, agile and strong. I became the first Symphony Conductor to sail solo around the world.
