“He was just drunk... or something.” These chilling words marked the beginning of one of modern Britain’s most disturbing cases of deception, assault, and murder. In this week's episode, Tom and Ben uncover the horrifying case of Stephen Port, known widely as The Grinder Killer. Port used dating and escort platforms to lure young gay men to his flat in Barking, East London. There, he drugged, sexually assaulted, and murdered at least four men between 2014 and 2015 using GHB, before attempting to cover his crimes with elaborate lies, staged s**cides, and planted notes. What followed was a devastating catalogue of police failures, as multiple deaths in the same area were dismissed as unrelated overdoses... Despite glaring similarities. It was only due to the relentless efforts of the victims’ families and friends, alongside members of the LGBTQ+ community, that justice was eventually served. Please note: this episode includes discussions of sexual violence, drug use, and homophobia.
