In this lecture during the Srila Prabhupada Memorial Festival, Maharaj shares his memories of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada and the lessons we can learn from his life. He explains how accepting responsibility in devotional life begins the moment one accepts a spiritual master and how Srila Prabhupada set a powerful example through his dedication and sacrifices. Maharaj recalls how Srila Prabhupada waited 11 years after meeting his guru before taking initiation, how he tirelessly translated the Srimad Bhagavatam, managed temples and guided devotees even during crisis such as the India-Pakistan tensions in 1974. He emphasizes that household devotees carry double responsibility - maintaining family life while remaining Krishna conscious and reminds us that everything belongs to Krishna and must be used responsibly. Maharaj also explains the important timeline of Srila Prabhupada’s life: he met his spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, in 1922; took initiation in 1933; began the Bhagawat Darshan magazine in 1944; left home to begin his mission in 1955; established ISKCON in 1966; and left this world for in 1977. Maharaj concludes by urging devotees to study the Srimad Bhagavatam deeply, follow the instructions of the spiritual master faithfully and take responsibility for supporting and spreading the spiritual mission initiated by Srila Prabhupada.
