Welcome to the first lecture of 2026 by the Ocular Genetics Interest Group. In this session, Dr. Tanmayi Dhamankar delivers an in-depth lecture on Choroideremia, an inherited retinal dystrophy. She begins by discussing the clinical characteristics and phenotypic spectrum of Choroideremia, illustrated through her own case series, providing practical clinical insights. She then delves into recent and ongoing clinical trials, discussing the results achieved so far and their implications for patient care and future management. Dr. Tanmayi Dhamankar is a Pediatric Ophthalmologist and Strabismus specialist with over nine years of clinical experience. She has completed a specialized short-term training in Ocular Genetics at Ghent University Hospital, Belgium. She currently practices at Hemdeep Clinic, Navi Peth, and serves as a visiting consultant in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Ocular Genetics at several reputed eye hospitals across Maharashtra. This lecture is part of our educational initiative aimed at promoting focused learning and discussion in the field of ocular genetics for clinicians, trainees, and allied eye-care professionals.
