The standout economic growth has even led analysts to update their forecasts for when China will overtake the U.S. as the world's largest economy to as early as 2028. Mokyeon, on Monday, China reported two-point-three percent year-on-year economic growth in 2020 with its GDP standing at some 15 trillion U.S. dollars. For China, this is the slowest annual growth rate in over forty years, when GDP shrunk to 1-point-6 percent during a time of social and economic disorder. But considering other major world economies plunged into recession due to the crippling pandemic, China has clearly come out on top. This has led experts to even shorten the expected timeline for Beijing to surpass Washington's economy from 2030 to 2028. The International Monetary Fund expects the U.S. to record a four-point-three percent decrease in economic growth.
