Led by nationally recognized trauma-informed educator, Dr. Beverly Kyer is a Public Speaker and Educator with over 46 years of experience in PTSD, trauma’s impact on brain development and behavior, and Compassion Fatigue. She is a Certified Compassion Fatigue Specialist and Founder/CEO of The Kyer Group Corporation, supporting trauma-informed care for helping professionals. She is also the author of “Surviving Compassion Fatigue: Help for Those Who Help Others.” This symposium is open to anyone whose work involves helping or supporting others, including professionals, advocates, caregivers, and community members serving trauma-exposed individuals and communities. Attendees will learn: ✔️ Differentiate with confidence between compassion fatigue, secondary traumatic stress, vicarious trauma, and burnout and recognize how each shows up in professional settings. ✔️ Understand the body’s stress response by exploring the neurobiological and physiological impacts of prolonged trauma exposure on health, behavior, and decision-making. ✔️ Identify early warning signs of chronic stress and compassion fatigue before they lead to long-term health or professional consequences. ✔️ Learn practical, in-the-moment strategies to regulate the nervous system, decompress during the workday, and prepare for high-conflict or emotionally charged situations. ✔️ Build resilience and sustainability through reflective practices that support ethical, effective, and trauma-informed work over time.
