WABC 77 NEW York - Ron Lundy - February 24 1966 - Radio Aircheck Courtesy: Charles Menut Back in the late 1960s, into the 1970s, New York’s 77 WABC was the most listened to station in the nation. The music was tightly programmed, and it had some of the best air personalities in the country. Dan Ingram, Harry Harison, Johnny Donovan,Scott Muni, Cousin Brucie, Chuck Leonard, and the voice heard on this aircheck, Ron Lundy. Ron was not really funny, like Dan Ingram, or super slick, like George Michael, or even really hip, like Chuck Leonard. Ron was just, friendly. He sounded like your friend. And he always sounded like he really was enjoying what he was doing. He also stood out, being a southerner,with a southern dialect, in New York City. Ron worked at WABC, from 1965 to 1982, and was at the microphone beside Dan Ingram when the station played its last Top 40 tune on May 10, 1982, before switching to a talk-radio format.
