PENGUINS FALL SHORT IN MANHATTAN BATTLE — RANGERS CLAIM 3-2 WIN AT THE GARDEN By: glfinvestments | October 7, 2025 | Madison Square Garden, New York City The Pittsburgh Penguins and New York Rangers clashed under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night in a tightly contested EA Sports NHL 25 simulation, with the Rangers edging out the Penguins 3–2 in regulation. The night began with an early surge from New York. Just 2:33 into the opening frame, veteran forward J.T. Miller broke through Pittsburgh goaltender Arturs Silovs, giving the Rangers a quick 1–0 advantage. Both teams traded scoring chances throughout the remainder of the period, but goaltenders Silovs and Igor Shesterkin stood tall to keep it a one-goal game heading into the second. The middle period was a defensive chess match, as both sides tightened up their structure. Shesterkin made several key stops on point-blank chances from Bryan Rust and Rickard Rakell, while Silovs denied Chris Kreider on a partial breakaway late in the frame. Despite the intensity, the scoreboard remained unchanged after forty minutes of play. The final period brought the fireworks. Just 1:23 into the third, Rickard Rakell found the equalizer for Pittsburgh, finishing a slick passing play from Sidney Crosby and Rust to make it 1–1. But the Rangers would not be denied on home ice. At 9:20, defenseman Connor Carrick jumped into the rush and buried a feed from Jonny Brodzinski, restoring New York’s lead. Momentum swung fully in the Rangers’ favor when Vincent Trocheck extended the lead to 3–1 with a power-play goal at 15:39, assisted by Brodzinski and Artemi Panarin. The Penguins refused to quit, as Crosby netted a late goal at 19:31 with help from Tyler Wotherspoon, cutting the deficit to one. Despite a furious final push with Silovs pulled for the extra attacker, Pittsburgh couldn’t find the tying marker before the horn sounded. Final Score: Rangers 3, Penguins 2 Shots on Goal: Not recorded Goalies: PIT – Silovs | NYR – Shesterkin The Penguins will look to bounce back in their next simulated matchup as they continue their early-season road stretch.
