n this video I talk about something that isn’t often discussed openly when it comes to marriage in Japan… intimacy. Many people assume that intimacy simply disappears over time, especially after marriage and children. But after speaking to people here in Japan — including young people, housewives, and salarymen — I’ve come to a different conclusion. The desire doesn’t disappear. Men still want to feel appreciated, respected, and desired. Women still want to feel wanted, emotionally connected, and attracted. So what actually changes? In many cases, it’s not the need for intimacy that disappears — it’s the connection between the two people. I talk about: why intimacy often fades in Japanese marriages how roles shift from “man and woman” to “father and mother” why romance and “wooing” often stop the emotional build-up that creates attraction (and why it disappears) why some people begin to look elsewhere instead of fixing the relationship This video is based on my own experience, a 15-year marriage, and conversations I’ve had with people living in Japan. Of course, this doesn’t apply to everyone — but it does raise some important questions about relationships, communication, and maintaining connection over time. If you're interested in dating, marriage, or relationships in Japan (or anywhere), this is something worth thinking about.
