Echeveria pulvinata ‘Ruby’ is a cute, fuzzy cultivar with a spectacular red glow. It is not, however, the easiest of succulents to grow and propagate. Ruby is also known as Chenille Plant, Plush Plant, Ruby Glow, Red Velvet, Ruby Slippers and, unlike other Echeveria, it grows as a small shrub. The leaves are green, with soft white hairs that turn a ruby red around the edges. The red can come and go throughout the year based on temperature. The colour is the brightest during winter. Echeveria pulvinata Ruby can be a bit difficult to care for as it’s susceptible to rust and does not like to have it’s leaves wet. Keeping it out of the rain can be beneficial if it’s raining regularly. Propagation may also be a little difficult as Ruby does not reproduce well from leaves.
