The Beloved open up what will turn out to be a memorable four-game series against the Reds with a nailbitting 4-3 win behind a solid pitching performance from former Marlins great Matthew Paul Clement and outstanding bullpen performances from The Farns, Six-Toed Tony and our hero Joe Borowski. The Cubs are still playing this game without the great slugger Sammy Sosa who was unfairly suspended seven games for accidentally using an alleged corked bat against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays but former Montreal Expos great Moises Alou and future Oakland A's great Eric Karros provide just enough offense for the visitors.
