Despite this relaunch being the second relaunch of the original Talking Tom Cat and not the first one, the changelog for the new release still mentioned the game as "Talking Tom Cat 2.0". The app icon and screenshots were updated to the ones from this relaunch for everyone on Android slightly earlier than the relaunch's worldwide release. During this time, despite the change of the app icon and screenshots, the 2016 relaunch was installed instead of the 2025 one. When the relaunch first became public, it used meme-like promotional images as placeholders. They were later removed and replaced with images from the 2016 relaunch, but edited for the 2025 relaunch. The app's screenshots also featured Tom licking an ice cream and holding a watermelon in his mouth, both of which was not seen anywhere in the 2025 relaunch.
