Our undergraduate teams took home the major prizes at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) National Design Challenge again. National Champions for the 4th year running, both our UCL MechEng teams won the Foundation and Advanced categories in this competition of small, automated vehicle prototype designs, hitting targets with perfect scores in each round. These wins including UCL Rocket recent National Rocketry Championships have dramatically increased since the inception of the department’s Kings Cross-based teaching lab MechSpace. Students, supported by technical staff and student mentors can design and build practical projects for assignments, extra-curricular competition and just for fun in the well-equipped facility.
