This was one of the most memorable motorcycle adventures I've had in years! I've been eyeing the Tukino Access Road for a few weeks, and with fresh tires, I finally had the perfect excuse to go. The 13km road up Mount Ruapehu is a true adventure. While the first half is okay for most vehicles, the upper section is strictly for 4WDs—and, as I found out, those with a bit more skill than me! The combination of snow and loose stones proved to be a real challenge. A huge thanks to the 4WD driver who helped me out when I got stuck. Unfortunately, the snow, ice and lack of skill meant I couldn't make it all the way to the Tukino Skifield this time.
