The Buffalo Bayou Trail in Houston, Texas is an amazing urban trail winding through several decorated parks featuring art, rest stops, water fountains, and everything an excellent urban trail should include. Parking is abundant within the parks and along the trail giving riders several options to access this pretty cool ride. This trail is a favorite trail that runs right through, or better experienced as “under” near the downtown section as the highway overpasses create a unique riding experience separated from all vehicle traffic.The trail is a pretty cool greenway centered in a busy metropolitan center that is great for visitors to ride, explore, and experience Houston on a bike. My ride started in Memorial Park then traveled east toward downtown, but you could ride this trail from any one of the many access points, parks, or parking lots. Riders should know that some sections are only for runners/walkers with signs indicating that section as not for bike riders, but the full length concrete trail is excellent to ride and enjoy.
