It is one of the first produced entirely by Iran and was first unveiled in 2016 and officially entered active service in 2020. It is produced on the basis of the Soviet T-72 and its external shape is inspired by the most modern Russian T-90 export version, the T-90MS ‘Tagil’. In spite of this, Iran denies any Russian involvement in the vehicle’s development.
