Michael Reichmann and Jeff Schewe visit landscape photographer and gallery owner Andrew Collett in Port Carling, Ontario for a hands-on demo of gallery wrap canvas production—filmed and edited by Chris Sanderson. Andrew shows how to build mirror-wrap edges in Photoshop, record a reusable action for standard sizes, and prep a 30×45" file for a 1.5" wrap. Then it’s off to the printer (Epson 9900), into a DIY spray booth to apply Breathing Color Glamour II (satin mix) with an HVLP turbine gun, and finally to the bench to stretch, fold corners, and staple—including tips on shrinkage, support bars, and the Tensador II stretcher. To round it out, Andrew previews his acrylic face-mount workflow using a Drytac heat-assist roll laminator, optically clear adhesive, and DiBond backing—why dust control, bracing, and surface care matter, and where this high-gloss presentation shines. What You’ll Learn: How to calculate canvas extensions for 1.5" gallery wraps (and ¾") and add mirror-wrap edges precisely. A fast, consistent Photoshop action for sizing, adding guides, mirroring, and flattening. Printing setup for canvas on an Epson 9900 and why Andrew lets prints off-gas before coating. Mixing & spraying Glamour II (gloss/matte to satin; “milk-to-half-and-half” viscosity), gun distance, overlap, and two-coat coverage. Why canvases shrink lengthwise, how much to add back, and when to use center supports. Clean, durable corner folds (a.k.a. “hospital folds”) and staple patterns for drum-tight results. Acrylic face-mount basics: high-gloss papers, optically clear adhesive, Drytac rollers, DiBond backs, and floating hardware. When to choose canvas vs. acrylic, and how presentation style can influence shooting technique (tilt-shift, Scheimpflug, panoramas).
