Crescent Kayaks Primo windy lake maiden Voyage!

Crescent Kayaks Primo first impressions! I picked it up from Quarryspringsoutfitters Saturday, near Lake Minnetonka, and couldn't resist trying it out in the windy lake, even though I got it primarily for rivers, creeks, rapids, and river floats. I was happy to find it paddles well on lakes too, except into some extreme near 40 mph gusts) winds wanting to turn me sideways . taking waves to the side was no problem, I stayed high and dry. I felt like I wanted the seat to be a bit more forward to keep the wind from getting under the bow, if I was using this kayak for longer lake paddles, I would want to put something in the front to weigh it down a little, but again I did not get it for crossing big windy lakes. I was pleasantly happy with how shallow I could paddle without getting stuck on sand and rocks, and the one time i scraped over a rock, it did not destabilize at all, so I will be a lot more confident going through shallow rocky rapids with the Primo, than the Ultralite. The Ultralite does better in the wind, though the ride is a bit more wet, it will be nice to have two Crescents to choose from now, double the fun!
