Game: Final Fantasy IX (FF9). Emulator: ePSXe 1.9 Graphics Plugin: Pete's OpenGL2 2.9 This is my third of the 4 caster videos. Their offense involves high powered spells and having a lot of Magic Power. Generic calculation for spells against Ozma are as follows: Base: (Spell Power - 70) Bonus: Random Number between Caster's Magic and (Caster's Magic + Caster's Level)/8 + Caster's Magic Damage: Base x Bonus. This was one of the most frustrating ones I ever did. Not only was I getting slammed by 9999 Meteors in my previous shots, but Rebirth Flame triggered and raised everyone. I needed to work Rebirth Flame in, but I needed to get a Dracozombie to Zombie my companions first (made me feel bad doing it because I like Garnet and Vivi). And what happens? This attempt didn't even need it! ==ENEMY BASIC STATS and ATTACKS== Ozma, Level 99, 55,535 HP/9,999 MP Classification: Aerial Elements: Immune to Earth, Weak against Wind, Shadow and Holy Ozma's spells are randomly chosen based on his turn number. There are other spells, but I am covering the ones that he can cast when you resist Holy/Shadow and have Reflect up: Doomsday - Drops a giant meteor onto the battlefield. Deals Shadow damage to all players and Ozma takes damage. He will heal from the impact if you didn't do the Friendly Animal Sidequest. Casts it ever other turn on odd number. Will still cast if target is immune or absorbs Shadow as the AI still thinks it absorbs it's own attack. LV4 Holy - Attacks all party members with Holy Damage provided the character has a level that is divisible by 4. Casts it every other turn on even number. Won't cast it if level is divisible by 4, absorption isn't checked. Casts it every other turn on even numbers. Curse - Deals physical damage to all party members. Causes Confusion, Poison, Blind, Mini. Antibody and Clear Headed are recommended for status guards as Poison fights Regen and Confusion will prevent you from doing actions until you whack yourself. Casts it every other turn on the even numbers. Flare Star - Deals damage equal to 50 x Level. 4600 in my case. It can be dodged with enough Magic Evasion. Casts it every other turn on odd number. For casters, this is a very dangerous spell if you are not at full health. Meteor - Deals random damage (calculated against each party member individually on impact) to each party member by Base x Random number between 1 times (Caster Level + Caster Magic) - 1. Accuracy equals Spirit + (Level / 2), however, this check is bypassed as the accuracy is 104 in Ozma's favor. Casts it every other turn on the odd number Curaga - Heals a large portion of Ozma's HP. Casts it every other turn on the even numbers if HP falls below 50% or as a counter. Berserk - Causes a character to go Berserk. But with Reflect, it won't work on Freya. ===EIKO STATS=== Eiko, Level 92, 4,771 HP/327 of 438 MP Elements: Absorbs Water/Wind, Nullifies Shadow, Halves Holy Equips: Magic Racket, Holy Miter, Egoist's Armlet, Robe of Lords, Ribbon Active Skills: Auto Reflect, Haste and Regen, Reflect-Null, Clear Headed, Antibody Speed: 31 Strength: 56 Magic: 77 Spirit: 50 Attack: 23 Defense: 47 Evade: 25 Magic Defense: 45 Magic Evade: 24 Terra Homing - Summons Madeen to deal Holy damage. Base spell power is 71 + Eiko's Level - Ozma's Magic Defense(making 163 - 70 = 93). The short animation gets a 33% penalty in damage, however I was still dealing 9999 despite it. Esuna - Removes most of the negative status effects from the target, much like consuming an Esuna. This is a good substitute to Remedy if Eiko is Tranced as you can use 1 turn to remove it then smite Ozma with Holy or Curaga yourself. Rebirth Flame - In the event that all party members fall, Eiko has a # of Phoenix Pinions/255 chance to call Phoenix and raise everyone for (30 + Spirit)/100 % HP (in my case 38.6% chance for 80% of my HP). Will not raise KOed party members with Zombie. Trance - Much like Vivi, Eiko gets the power to double cast White Magic, giving more options per turn if you do magic. ====STRATEGY==== I made her 92 over 84. She keeps the LV4 Holy targeting, but gets a bit more HP/MP to work with. The big problem is Ozma's magic defense of 70, which must be cracked with high powered spells and weakness exploitation AND Eiko is one of the frailest characters in the game (At level 1, she has 35 HP). Holy was doing 8000 damage in my previous attempts and his Curaga counters were undoing my doublecasts, so I decided to screw it and smite him with my best holy spell: Madeen. Although the short animation is slightly weaker and less cool looking, it still did 9999. ====OVERALL==== Eiko gets Double White which gives more offensive and defensive options when Trance hits. Plus, Rebirth Flame is like having an extra life by chance if Ozma gets lucky with Meteor. If you worked enough Magic strength into your character, you can sub Madeen out for Holy. If necessary, you may use Boost to roll Madeen for maximum output.
