Holi Festival In Varanasi, India - How To Stay Safe For years and years I'd wanted to come to India to experience Holi, the majestic, colourful, paint throwing festival. And where better to experience Holi Festival than in Varanasi, India? The magical, religious town along the Ghats. You can imagine my disappointment when I arrived in Varanasi and everyone told me women aren't allowed to go outside because its too dangerous! In India, the pictures you see of foreigners enjoying Holi festival are usually taken inside the hostel grounds, where they throw a party for their guests. I'd travelled for miles and miles and spent years looking forwards to this day, so with a big group (10+) I made the trip outside to experience the festival. After 2 minutes outside I was sexually assaulted. Although I had a great day with my friends, please make sure you watch this video and stay safe throughout Holi! All my love, Skye! PS.
