DevCon 2020 Presentation: Building a Motor Control Platform with STSPIN32F0 Family Drivers

This presentation focuses on the STSPIN32 product family which is specifically designed for motion control applications. We will start with an overview of the STSPIN32 low voltage and high voltage series of System in Package (SiP) devices (embedding a 32 bit Cortex-M0 MCU and advanced gate drivers for three phase inverters) and a description of the hardware and firmware ecosystem built around these devices. Next we will show a live demonstration on how to easily tune a BLDC motor with an STSPIN32. We will walk you through the complete firmware generation process for an application that uses a sensorless FOC control algorithm including: how to perform regulator tuning, how to program open-to closed-loop switchovers, how to regulate speed and how to set up the troubleshooting of common issues. Application set-up, parameters tuning and firmware generation will be done using the ST Motor Control Software Development Kit (MCSDK).
