M.Ikram is a flute maker, flute seller and a flute player in Lohari.gate. He started with selling flutes and later on started making the flutes at home which his son M.Nafees sells at Anarkali. Ikram makes an average of 28 flutes a day. Flute is a melodious musical insturment with six melodies (FG,FD,FC,FB,FA and FG ). There are, according to Ikram, two types of flutes; front-flutes and the side-flutes. He says that the front-flute is easy to play and is available at cheaper rates, whereas the side-flute is comparatively expensive with special skills required to play it. Celebrities like Bakir Sahab, Ustad Papu, Khadim Hussain Haideri and Ustad Noshad are some popular flute players of Pakistan.
